Our ref: FOI-2509-2425
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 05 November 2024 asking for information about changes to Putney High Street and Putney Bridge.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.
I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require. You asked:
Regarding the junction of Lower Richmond Road, Putney High Street and Putney Bridge, where there are currently changes being made to the traffic lights and crossings
1. Please can you confirm the traffic light cycle times for this junction
a) Before the road works
b) after the roadworks
There are currently works in place to the south of Putney Bridge to build a London Borough of Wandsworth scheme that provides improvements for cyclists and pedestrians. Under normal network operation prior to the works, the junction between Putney Bridge Road, Lower Richmond Road and Putney High Street operated a cycle time of up to 104 seconds. After the works finish and the scheme is built, we plan to retain the cycle time of 104 seconds, however this will be reviewed in line with network conditions and operational needs at the time.
2. Specifically, will green light time for motorised vehicles be reduced proportionately by the works?
3. Are advance green lights for cyclists being introduced? Will that reduce green light time for motorised vehicles?
4. Will the change to pedestrian crossings reduce the green light time for motorised vehicles?
5. What is the expected impact on congestion of motorised vehicles at the junction after the works compared to before the works?
We are unable to respond to the remaining questions because as mentioned above, this is a London Borough of Wandsworth scheme and they will hold the requested information. Please return your request to the council as we have received confirmation that they should now be able to support your request.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
