Thank you for your email received on 14 March 2017 asking for information about Freedom Passes.

 

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

 

We calculate Freedom Pass journeys each year for settlement purposes between London Councils and TfL. This covers the year 1 July to 30 June. Therefore the information which we have compiled is for the slightly different year 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016 which I hope will be sufficient for your purposes.

 

There were 1.214 million valid Freedom Passes as at the end of June 2016.

 

There were 361 million Freedom Pass journeys made on TfL services (Bus, Underground, DLR, Tram, Overground and Crossrail). This does not include National Rail services.
