Cost of footbridge

Request ID: FOI-2498-1617
Date published: 31 March 2017

You asked

I have been trying to find out the cost of the footbridge crossing the North Circular/Bowes rd into the B1452 without success. Was compensation paid when it had to be repaired. It is a waste of money as the school children and pedestrians prefer to cross the road. I suggest it be dismantled before any more costs are incurred.

We answered

Our ref: FOI-2498-1617

Thank you for your email received on 6 March 2017 asking for information about the North Circular/Bowes Road footbridge.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require.

The design and build costs of the original footbridge construction was approximately £1.5M (tender value being £1,413,465).

Unfortunately we are unclear about what you mean when you ask, ‘Was compensation paid when it had to be repaired?’ If you could please confirm if you are referring to the cost of the repairs post construction or whether you are referring to compensation paid to members of the public or other compensation.

If this is not the information you are looking for please feel free to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
