Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 18 December 2018 asking for the cost to TFL for the Mariah Carey train announcements on main line stations.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. You asked:

Please could you find out for me the cost to TFL for the Mariah Carey train announcements on main line stations?

The pre-recorded Mariah Carey announcements were part of a commercial partnership with Sony Music. This partnership allowed customers and fans to listen to a number of festive safety announcements which played at London Bridge, Stratford and Waterloo on Tuesday 18 December through to Christmas Eve.

The cost to put these messages in stations was £2,500, and was entirely covered by Sony Music. In addition to this, TfL also charged Sony Music a partnership fee of £20,000 which reflects the overall media value of the partnership.

If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.
