Update on status of pedestrian crossing works at junction of Lordship Lane and Dulwich Common (planned for 2020)

Request ID: FOI-2487-2122
Date published: 09 February 2022

You asked

Please provide a confirmation of the current status of the planned project to install a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Lordship Lane and Dulwich Common in SE22. This project was consulted on in 2018/2019 and TFL had 'tentatively' aspired to commence work on the pedestrian crossing at the Lordship Lane/Dulwich Common junction (aka The Grove Tavern junction) in 2020. However the project has disappeared from the list of open or closed projects on the TFL website, leading many local residents to believe the project has been cancelled. If the project is still going ahead, please provide an updated expected time for implementation. If the project has been cancelled, please provide the date and reasons for the cancellation.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 31 January 2022 asking for information about the planned installation of a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Lordship Lane and Dulwich Common in SE22.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Firstly just to clarify, the TfL website does not list every project that we are currently working on - typically just the larger ones have their own webpages.

We can confirm that the project you have asked about is currently paused due to a lack of long-term funding from the Department of Transport, with TfL’s current funding allocation ending on 18 February 2022. We hope to resume the project after this date, should funding be available, with construction in spring 2023 subject to acquisition of a small piece of land required to deliver the project.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
