We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2486-2122

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 1st February 2022 asking for information about a road safety camera on Millbank.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act  and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. Your questions are answered in turn below:

Question 1) Coming from Vauxhall bridge towards lambeth bridge when was the milbank camera set at 20mph ?

Answer: A 20mph speed limit was introduced on Millbank in March 2020. This was the case for all Transport for London Road Network (TLRN) roads within the Congestion Charge area, following the consultation in 2019.

Question 2) Can you kindly tell me how much this camera has taken set at 20mph?

And;

Question 3) How much has this camera taken in the last 12months?

Answer: TfL does not hold the requested information as penalty charges for speeding are issued by the police. FOI requests to the Metropolitan Police Service can be made via its website here:

https://www.met.police.uk/foi-ai/af/accessing-information/

Question 4) Who is responsible and why has the limit been reduced to 20mph?

Answer: Millbank is on the TLRN, so any change in speed limit is the responsibility of TfL. The introduction of a 20mph speed limit in central London is the first phase of the ‘Lowering Speed Limits’ programme, a key commitment for the Mayor of London to eliminate death and serious injury from London’s roads.  Research shows that those hit by a vehicle travelling at 30mph are five times more likely to be killed than if they were struck at 20mph.  The Lowering Speed Limits programme identified over 150km of TfL’s network which would benefit from lower speed limits.  Further details on the programme can be found in TfL’s ‘Vision Zero Action Plan’ which was published in July 2018 - a copy can be found on our website here:

Question 5) i Recently was told by drivetech that 20mph limit was for bulit up areas like were schools are infact ive seen a sign saying 20mph limit while kids enter and leave schools this is accompanied with yellow lights yet theres nothing here i rarely see people
