We answered
Our ref: FOI-2484-2122/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 31 January 2022 asking for information about penalty fares/fare evasion on London buses and tube.
We take fare evasion extremely seriously and our team of 450 revenue inspectors operate across the whole network day and night, using new technology and intelligence to identify anyone travelling without a ticket. Through continued partnership working with the police and intelligence gathering we will push for the toughest penalties for anyone caught fare evading on our services. Fare evasion takes away vital revenue for us to reinvest into our transport network to keep London moving.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. Please find attached attached a zip file containing the requested information.
With the London Underground reports, Penalty Fares are recorded based on the route that was due to be taken, and not by the station the Penalty Fare was issued at. It is important to note that the TfL Rail Network, including London Underground, is interlinked. Journeys may begin or end at a DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail or National Rail station.
