Traffic violations on CS7

Request ID: FOI-2465-2122
Date published: 14 March 2022

You asked

I request the information as to how many traffic violations that vehicles have been issued with for ignoring the road changes that were introduced to the Streetspaces/CS7 along the A24 in Colliers Wood, Tooting and Balham. This should be for the last six months of 2021 I would also like the information as to how these changes are enforced. How many traffic cameras enforce these changes with regards to no left turn/no right turn or one way roads. And whether there are plans to use cameras to enforce these restrictions

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2465-2122

Thank you for your revised request which we received on 24 February 2022, asking for information about the enforcement of the newly created restrictions on the A24 at Brudenell Road, Topsham Road, Fircroft Road, and Mandrake Road for the last six months of 2021.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

I would like to request, for the same period, data for these roads - Brudenell Road, Topsham Road, Fircroft Road, and Mandrake Road. This includes violations of no left turns into, right turns out of (banned turns) or ignoring the one way system on any of the above roads.

I would like to know which roads above have camera enforcement to stop such violations.

We have identified the enforcement zones listed below. Please note there was no enforcement zone available on A24 Upper Tooting Road by Brudenell Road, which meant this banned manoeuvre couldn’t be monitored and enforced at the time.

  1. 00000_70658_BM - A24 Upper Tooting Road by Topsham Road.
  2. 00000_70657_BM - A24 Upper Tooting Road by Fircroft Road.
  3. 00000_70661_BM - A24 Upper Tooting Road by Mandrake Road.

The banned manoeuvrers mentioned above were introduced in July 2021 and were enforceable for a short period of time until the social distancing measures were no longer required. Please note these enforcement zones are now unenforceable as the Traffic Order ‘GLA 2020 No. 0462’ was made to prohibit certain movements on or near sections of the A24 roads High Street Colliers Wood, Tooting High Street and Upper Tooting Road because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to the coronavirus pandemic social distancing measures. Between the dates of 1st June 2021 to Dec 31st 2021 a total of twelve penalty charge notices were issued.

With regard to the camera enforcement within the vicinity, there was CCTV camera 10/014549 positioned on Upper Tooting Road by Topsham Road, which was used to monitor and enforce these banned manoeuvres.
