Hi How many train drivers working in London Underground were furloughed due to sickness in November 2020 And how many train drivers in London Underground were on furlough in November 2020.

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2452-2122

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27th January 2022 asking for information about furloughed train operators on the London Underground.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

How many train drivers working in London Underground were furloughed due to sickness in November 2020. And how many train drivers in London Underground were on furlough in November 2020.”

I can confirm that we hold the information you require. At this point in the pandemic furlough was only used for staff who had received a new NHS letter confirming they were shielding. We did not have any staff in London Underground Line Operations that were furloughed ‘due to sickness’ in November 2020. Of those shielding, we had 80 Train Operators on furlough in November 2020.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely,
