Congestion charge zoning

Request ID: FOI-2448-2425
Date published: 21 November 2024

You asked

Hi TfL - I am seeking information about the congestion charge zone as the existing information I can find online doesn't seem to tally so I just wanted to check. - Is the A501 inside or outside of the congestion zone? The TfL map (https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge/congestion-charge-zone) suggests that it is outside of the congestion zone. - I have seen from the information provided in response to FOI-2108-2021 that there are cameras situated on the junction of Swinton Street and Gray's Inn Road (Grid Ref: 530545, 182770). What is the reasoning for situating a camera here? All the roads at this junction are 1-way roads and feed traffic onto the A501 northbound and so short of travelling against the flow of the traffic, vehicles must go northbound on the A501 which is outside of the congestion zone. Thanks for helping to clarify this point, and happy to provide any more clarification to this request as needed. Many thanks,

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 1 November 2024 asking for information about Congestion charge zoning.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

I can confirm that the A501 is outside of the Congestion Charging zone.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide your with further information about these cameras - our infrastructure, including enforcement cameras, have been subject to sustained instances of criminal damage and so we are currently forced to limit the information put into the public domain about our assets. The full rationale for the use of the aforementioned regulations is explained in more detail in a published response to a previous information request which is available on our website here:
