Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.
In accordance with the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply the information you have requested as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act.
In this instance the exemption has been applied as the information you have requested is intended for future publication. The information is currently being validated to ensure accuracy.
Between 8 November 2017 and 8 January 2018 we publically consulted on proposals for a new river crossing between Rotherhithe and Canary Wharf. This consultation presented our work developing and assessing a number of crossing options, including our preferred option; a navigable bridge. The materials published as part of this consultation included our latest information on the estimated cost of the scheme and can be found here https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/rivercrossings/rotherhithe-canarywharf/.
Throughout the last year, we have undertaken significant further work to develop the proposed scheme which includes refining our cost estimate. The conclusions of this work will be presented to the public as part of our next consultation in mid-2019.
The use of this exemption is subject to an assessment of the public interest in relation to the disclosure of the information concerned. Whilst we recognise that there is a public interest in transparency, particularly around major projects, there is a greater public interest in ensuring that the availability of the information is managed by planning and controlling its publication together with the relevant materials to provide appropriate context and explanation.
