Having consulted with our Corporate Archives team, we can advise that we do not hold the precise material you are seeking. However, Corporate Archives do have a large number of files, which may be of interest relating to the design, planning and delivery of 1972 London Underground rolling stock. Since over a hundred files have been found in this area, a snapshot of a selection is provided in the attached spreadsheet.

The Corporate Archives catalogue is available online where the complete list of 119 items in total can be referred to by entering a search for ‘1972 tube stock’ via: http://www.tflcorporatearchivescatalogue.co.uk/CalmViewA/Default.aspx

We also recommend reading the advice provided on how best to use the catalogue in the ‘How to Search’ section at: http://www.tflcorporatearchivescatalogue.co.uk/CalmViewA/How.aspx as well as  ‘Further Help with Searching’ pages here: www.tflcorporatearchivescatalogue.co.uk/CalmViewA/Searches.aspx

However, please note that all of the items listed in the attached spreadsheet, together with the files described in our catalogue are solely available in their original physical format and need to be consulted in person. We do not have scanned or digitised copies available. Access to our collections is usually a service offered by inviting researchers into the TfL Corporate Archives search room. However, their new premises are currently under construction and so unfortunately it is currently not possible to view these items in person. If there is anything of interest, please email the Corporate Archives team at: [email protected] and your details will be added to their waiting list. The team will be in touch with information on how to book research appointments once they have re-opened to the public.

In the meantime, you may also wish to refer to the London Transport Museum’s online collections search for their ‘Technical records’, which they hold to assist in the research and maintenance of their vehicle collection. They can be accessed here: https://www.ltmuseum.co.uk/collections/the-collection?f%5B0%5D=collection_type%3ATechnical%20documents
