Request ID: FOI-2423-2122 Date published: 11 February 2022
You asked
Dear Transport for London,
As a collector of British Rail and other Train Manuals, can you please send me the manuals of the 1972 tube stock mk1 & mk2?
Similar to the British Rail manuals this includes documents like the driving instructions, static duties, preparation & disposal, or the "manufacturers manual" created by metro cammell. If there is a "Fault finding Data" manual i would like to request this as well.

Having consulted with our Corporate Archives team, we can advise that we do not hold the precise material you are seeking. However, Corporate Archives do have a large number of files, which may be of interest relating to the design, planning and delivery of 1972 London Underground rolling stock. Since over a hundred files have been found in this area, a snapshot of a selection is provided in the attached spreadsheet.
However, please note that all of the items listed in the attached spreadsheet, together with the files described in our catalogue are solely available in their original physical format and need to be consulted in person. We do not have scanned or digitised copies available. Access to our collections is usually a service offered by inviting researchers into the TfL Corporate Archives search room. However, their new premises are currently under construction and so unfortunately it is currently not possible to view these items in person. If there is anything of interest, please email the Corporate Archives team at: [email protected] and your details will be added to their waiting list. The team will be in touch with information on how to book research appointments once they have re-opened to the public.
