TfL Ref: FOI-2385-2425
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26th October 2024 asking for information about the Metropolitan line CBTC and Signal Migration Area 8.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“I appreciate the complex challenges faced in Signal Migration Area 8 on the Metropolitan line between Finchley Road and Preston Road. However, when the website says "the next station to go live is in early 2025 between Finchley Road and Preston Road," is there a specific date on this?
And do the southbound fast and semi-fast trains need to stop at Wembley Park to convert into CBTC temporarily?”,
In answer to your first question, there is as yet no confirmed date. The programme is currently undergoing review and we expect to have further details on the go-live for SMA8 later this year. Our webpage (https://tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/improvements-and-projects/four-lines-modernisation) will be updated in due course.
In answer to your second question, the trains will stop briefly adjacent to the station at Preston Road to enter/exit the new section/CBTC system.
If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely,
