Are TFL responsible for the painted road markings on red route roads? If not who is?
What is the reason there are no zig zag white lines at the pelican crossing next to Lewisham Train Station on Station Road near the junction with the A20. (There are double red lines there).

Our ref: FOI-2366-2223/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 20 December 2022 asking for information about Red route road markings.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
TfL is responsible for road marking on red routes. There are no zig zag white lines at the crossing you refer to because it forms part of a junction rather than a stand alone crossing.
Zig-zag lines indicate requirements or prohibitions relating to stopping or overtaking at crossing facilities. A crossing is defined as where vehicular traffic is stopped only for the purpose of enabling pedestrians, cyclists or equestrians to cross the carriageway and not for the purpose of regulating the vehicular traffic at a junction.
As the location referred to forms part of a junction, zig-zag markings are not required.
