All signs have been updated and there are no old information signs in situ.

What other efforts have TFL undertaken to make road users aware that the Congestion Charge applies on Saturdays and Sundays, other than a few press stories in June 2020?

The London wide information campaign ran in advance and post the introduction of the temporary changes to the Congestion Charge which were implemented from 22 June 2020.

Advertising appeared on all key London commercial radio stations (Smooth, Absolute, Kiss, Capital, LBC, Heart, LBC News, Jazz, Classic, Radio X, Magic, Gold, Capital XTRA) reaching 48.5% of London car owners. During lockdown the listenership of radio increased by 24%.

In addition to this, information also appeared on 643 London wide roadside posters with a total reach of 21.67% of London car owners. We also ran a full-page advert in the Evening Standard and an insertion ran in the Metro. Details of the temporary changes were also published on the TfL website.

We sent over 395,000 emails to customers registered with Congestion Charging, emails to over 1 million registered Oyster card users and we also included information in the weekend travel email that reaches circa 2 million customers. Our Congestion Charge automated telephone system also provided information on the temporary charge increase before it was implemented.

The information campaign continued with posters appearing on approximately 1,000 lower bus rears for four weeks, reaching 48% of London car owners. Further radio advertising is also planned.
