TfL Ref: 2239-1718

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 20 November 2017 asking for information about the locations of the average speed cameras on the A316.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

Cameras were installed at strategic locations along the A316 corridor, and use Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to read vehicle registration plates and record the time and date that each vehicle passes. Specialised software is then used to calculate the average speed of each vehicle that traversed two or more camera sites along the corridor, based on the distance between the sites and the time taken.

Please see map attached with locations of the average speed camera sites along the A316.  With regard to the part of your request for the monitoring zone between the cameras, we have assumed that you are asking for the locations where vehicle speeds are actually monitored.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
