Thank you for your requests received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16th February 2021 asking for information about Moorgate station.

Your requests have been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

Case ref EIR-2334-2021:

“With regards to Moorgate Station do you know if any works to remove asbestos was performed during the period 1 July 2017 to 31 August 2017.

If so what safety procedures did tfl take.”

Case ref EIR-2337-2021:

Has there been work to remove asbestos at Moorgate station specifically on 17 August 2017 or 18 August 2017.

If yes which date, time and area of the station.”

In answer to case ref EIR-2334-2021, there was an emergency call out during this period following the discovery of what was thought to be asbestos at London Underground’s Moorgate station. However, a sample was taken and the material in question was shown not to be asbestos.

In answer to case ref EIR-2337-2021, TfL has no record of any asbestos having been removed at LU’s Moorgate Station on 17 August 2017 or 18 August 2017, either by our own employees or by contractors.
