Thank you for your request received on 13 January 2022 asking for information about the enforcement of face coverings on our network. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked for: 1. The number of fines issued for people not complying with the rule on mandatory face masks (or coverings) since 30 November 2021 Between 30 November 2021 and 2 February 2022, TfL’s Investigations, Appeals and Prosecutions team have issued 1,733 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), with approximately 136 still to be processed. 2. The total monetary value (in £GBP) of those fines (covered in 1)) Each FPN is issued at £200, with the option of paying £100 if the FPN is paid within 14 days. 3. From 30 November 2021 (to date) - the number of people stopped from getting on TfL public transport services until they put on a face-mask Between Tuesday 30 November 2021 and Wednesday 26 January 2022: • 57,449 people were stopped by TfL enforcement officers from getting on our public transport services until they put on a face covering. Most complied by getting their face covering from their bag or pocket, putting it on correctly or purchasing one from a nearby shop • 2,770 people were prevented from boarding • 1,060 people were asked to leave our services If this is not the information you are looking for please feel free to contact me.
