You asked
You will be well aware of the chaos caused to the roadworks on the A316 at Manor Road and the severe disruption this is causing to the lives of residents.
I note that a material component of the justification for the works is safety. I’m surprised by this – as someone who has no choice but to use this roundabout several times per day, almost every day, I have not considered it a particularly dangerous layout. Under the heading “Why we're doing the work”, your website (https://tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/improvements-and-projects/manor-circus-roundabout?cid=manorcircus ) states: “The safety improvements that follow the bridge repairs are expected to reduce the number of road collisions resulting in injury by more than half. There were 13 collisions on the roundabout and existing zebra crossings in the 36 months up to February 2023.”
Please can I understand the nature of these 13 collisions, how many resulted in injury, and the nature/severity of the injuries sustained.

Thank you for your request which we received on 27 September 2023, asking for information about road collisions at Manor Circus roundabout.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIRs) and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
Major cities around the world are taking a stand to end the toll of deaths and injury seen on their roads and transport networks by committing to Vision Zero. London is at the forefront of this approach and the Mayor's Transport Strategy sets out the goal that, by 2041, all deaths and serious injuries will be eliminated from London's transport network.
Part of this work includes designing a street environment that reduces the risk of collisions resulting in injury, by transforming junctions which we know are unsafe, and ensuring safety is at the forefront of the design.
We know that the previous junction layout at Manor Circus was unsafe. Due to the location, on top of the railway bridge, all approaches to the roundabout are uphill which restricts sight lines. The previous zebra crossings were very close to the exits, which sometimes resulted in vehicles queuing back onto the roundabout when people crossed.
Using collision data recorded by the Metropolitan Police, we found that in the 36 month period up to February 2023, a total of 13 collisions took place at this junction. Please see the collision details in the below table;

These statistics include incidents where the Police have been at the scene, as well as self-reported casualties. This data does not include near-miss collisions, which we would expect to see at this junction but are often unreported.
You can also check the publicly available Road Danger Dashboard, which holds validated collision figures from across the city, presented in graphs and map format.
