Thank you for your email received by us on 17 November 2017 asking for information about red routes in the London Borough of Lewisham.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked for:

1. Policy on redroutes in the London Borough of Lewisham (or if this is not available) for the Greater London area
2. Any documentation concerning why there is a red route in Lewisham Park, London SE13 (as this is not on the highway).
3. How many of the redroute lines that are not on a main road within the London Borough of Lewisham

I can advise that the red route network in London is made up of GLA roads and GLA side roads, which are the roads designated as red routes by the Secretary of State for Transport. Under the Greater London Authority Act 1999, the Secretary of State transferred ownership of GLA red routes in Greater London to TfL and made TfL the Highway Authority for all GLA roads, including side roads.

Main roads on the red route network were designated GLA Roads under the GLA Roads Designation Order 2000, which can be viewed via the following link: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2000/1117/contents/made

Lewisham Park forms part of the red route network under the GLA Side Roads (London Borough of Lewisham) Designation Order 2000, which is available here - Lewisham Park is item 140 : http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2000/1310/made and which also includes information about the other GLA side roads in Lewisham.

In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
