You asked
I hereby make a Freedom of Information request for the following regarding the new rolling stock for the Docklands Light Railway (DLR): 1. What is the current state of production for these new trains i.e how may have been built and at what stage 2. What is the current timescale for the rollout of the new trains on the DLR network; and 3. What is the current state of construction work on the Beckton depot, which is being undertaken to accommodate the new rolling stock.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 11 January 2022, asking for information about DLR trains.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:
 
  1. What is the current state of production for these new trains i.e how may have been built and at what stage
The first two trains have been manufactured. There is now a break in production until late this year while these first trains undergo a comprehensive period of testing.
  1. What is the current timescale for the rollout of the new trains on the DLR network; and
The first trains are due to enter service in early 2024 with the introduction of the 43rd train in early 2026.
 
  1. What is the current state of construction work on the Beckton depot, which is being undertaken to accommodate the new rolling stock.
Beckton Depot works are underway. Enabling works are complete and works continue to expand the northern sidings.
