The cost of installing the Wimbledon Park lift

Request ID: FOI-2298-2122
Date published: 25 January 2022

You asked

Please could you let me know the final cost of installing the lift at the the Wimbledon Park tube station? If possible, I would also like to know how much the project went over budget? And whether TFL considers this value for money?

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2298-2122

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 11 January 2021, asking for information about a lift installation at Wimbledon Park Station.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.

Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested. We are unable to provide the final cost of the work as the final account hasn’t been settled yet. However, we are at present under budget on this project.

Making London’s public transport network more accessible is one of our key priorities. The lift will improve access to the station and wider transport network for people with accessibility needs who could not previously access it from this location. This project induces wider economic benefits and reduces reliance upon private methods of travel. A further benefit of this project is that the station now offers a safer route between ticket hall and platform as it is no longer necessary to use the stairs.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
