Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 20 February 2017 asking for information about the WiFi data trial.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.

Details of the WiFi trial can be found at the following link: https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/press-releases/2016/november/wifi-trial-to-help-give-customers-better-journeys

We are currently analysing the results of the trial to see if we can plan and operate London’s transport more effectively for our customers, including providing better information and reducing congestion. We will publish the outcome of this analysis once this has been completed.

Therefore, in accordance with section 22 of the FOI Act we are not obliged to provide you with this information as it is intended for future publication. Work is being done to collate and analyse the data with a view to publishing a report on the information the trial produced. We expect this to be completed by Summer 2017.

The use of this exemption is subject to an assessment of the public interest in relation to the disclosure of the information concerned. We recognise that there is a public interest in openness and transparency but feel that, in this instance, the balance lies in favour of withholding the information to ensure that we’re able to collate and publish this information in accordance with the pre-determined schedule to ensure that the information is as widely available and accessible as possible.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
