Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 28 October 2019 asking for information about the Metropolitan line.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you requested.

In relation to your enquiry, we calculate travel delays as Excess Journey Time.  Excess Journey Time measures the average delay experienced by customers on a daily basis. EJT is expressed in decimal minutes, and is calculated by applying weighting factors to end-to-end journey times based on levels of passenger demand, crowding and ease of accessibility, in line with Department for Transport guidelines for customer Value of Time.

We apologise for the delays you have experienced over the recent period, part of which is reflected below. We understand the newly appointed Managing Director of London Underground has apologised to you personally and updated you on measures being taken to improve matters.

Could you send me Met Line reliability statistics including periods of severe delays for Sept/Oct 2018 and also Sept/Oct 2019?

For September to October 2018/19 the Excess Journey Time was:

August 19th – September 15th	1.04 decimal minutes
September 16th – October 13th	2.53 decimal minutes

For September to October 2019/20 the Excess Journey Time was:

August 18th – September 14th	2.65 decimal minutes
September 15th – October 12th	4.71 decimal minutes
