Equality Impact Assessment

Request ID: FOI-2264-1819
Date published: 28 December 2018

You asked

Further to the reply to FOI-1413-1718, please can you provide me with, or direct me to, the Equality Impact Assessment, or any other relevant equalities assessment or considerations, that TfL undertook when preparing its guidelines around ensuring that people are still within 400 metres walking distance of a bus stop following bus route changes to the 289 and 455 buses serving Drury Crescent and Trafalgar Way in Croydon? Please can you also direct me to, or provide me with, a copy of the documentation you hold which shows how, in taking the decision to close the bus stops on Drury Crescent and Trafalgar Way in Croydon on 2 September 2018, TfL complied with its duties under Section 149 of the Equality Act 2010.

We answered

Our Ref:         FOI-2264-1819

Thank you for your request received on 27 November 2018 asking for information about the changes to routes 289 and 455.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

We do not hold the information you have requested. In line with established planning practice we have not completed an Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) for this set of proposals, although we are working on including EQIAs in future consultations. Regarding the proposed change to routes 289 and 455, we have paid due regard to our public sector equality duty by engaging closely with the boroughs and community groups when carrying out the consultation alongside all proposed changes to ensure that the views and requirements of equality groups have been taken on board. TfL would welcome any further specific comments or issues related to the potential impacts on equalities groups that were not raised during the consultation to consider in future planning.

Our current Croydon bus consultation includes a detailed EQIA: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/croydon-town-centre/.

Please accept our apologies that we are unable to assist you further on this occasion.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
