Our ref: FOI-2226-2324/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 25 September 2023 asking for information about Buses and ULEZ.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
Only London buses that travelled into the central London ULEZ (i.e the congestion charge zone) were compliant by April 2019.
There was no requirement for the entire bus fleet to meet ULEZ standard in April 2019 – as only central London ULEZ existed and the buses that travelled in this specific zone were upgraded to be compliant.
All London buses have been ULEZ compliant since January 2021. Well before the current ULEZ expansion start date, and therefore no penalty charge notices have been issued.
If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
