We answered

Our ref: FOI-2219-2021

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 1 February 2021 asking for information about tree complaints.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm we do hold some of the information you requested. You asked for:

Records of all Complaint records for trees near to the East Rochester Way on Gwillim Close Sidcup DA15, Park Mead Sidcup DA15, Tyrrell Avenue Sidcup DA15 and Lyndon Avenue Sidcup DA15 from January 2014 to January 2019.

Please find below a table of complaints we received relating to trees near the aforementioned locations from April 2017 to January 2019.

We are unfortunately unable to provide complaint records for the trees in the locations requested before April 2017 as the complaints recording system used at that time did not allow us to search by locations. This system also did not have a complaints category for trees or similar. The complaints recording system was changed in 2017, and we are therefore only able to search for complaints regarding a specific location from this time.

Can someone please tell me whether the two trees that have been cut down in the bank of shrubs running alongside the A2 at Park Mead will be replaced. Workmen came on 3rd August to remove them and have left the area in a shocking state.

Comments: The street lights all the way down the alley are not working. The alley is situated between Tyrrell Avenue and the A2. The alley is at the end of my garden and I don’t think it
s safe that they are not working as the other month I had people trying to jump my back fences so I would prefer these are done ASAP. I contacted Bexley council who attended but when they did they notified me that these lights belong to TfL.

Comments: Last Tuesday when there was heavy rainfall, the rain came off the A2 which is behind my house, and flooded my garage and garden and almost flooded my house. This only affected my house at [REDACTED] Lyndon avenue, and houses [REDACTED]. It seems the drains on the A2 at this point, may be blocked as the rain did not drain away, but instead fell off the A2 and into my land like a waterfall. I need the drains on this part of the A2 unblocked so that my property is not flooded. My garage was flooded and the floor is still wet. The Highway Agency have confirmed that as my house is between London and Bexley that the A2 falls under TFL and not Highway Agency. It is not clear the reason the drains on this part of the A2 were blocked, or how often they are cleaned?

Complaint

Customer has called to ask what we can do to cut back some of the woodlands that back onto their property from the A2 (East Rochester Way). They say the trees here are overgrowing and affecting the use of their garden as sap is dripping and loads of flies are entering their garden meaning that they can't use it for washing, etc. Can we attend and see if there is any action we can take to improve the situation here.
