FOI request detail

Number of vehicle/vehicle and vehicle/people accidents at junction of Weighton Rd/High Rd Harrow Weald HA3.

Request ID: FOI-2191-1819
Date published: 06 December 2018

You asked

Dear Transport for London, We were told that the 'No Right Turn' from Weighton Road into The High Road, Harrow Weald, HA3 was installed due to the high number of accidents/incidents. This junction has been far safer since the traffic lights were installed some years ago. Two of the alternatives suggested are quite dangerous, either using the service road behind the shops to go into Long Elmes or going up Weighton Road to Maricas Avenue and turning left towards Long Elmes. You cannot see if there is a delivery lorry in the service road before you turn into it. If there is you have to back out blind into Weighton Road due to cars parked on the double yellow lines. If you go the other way you cannot see what is coming up Maricas Avenue due to the cars parked on the double yellow lines and you have to go on the wrong side of the road to turn left. There have been a few 'near misses' at these two spots. I do the Neighbourhood Watch for Weighton Road and so I'm submitting this FIA request, on behalf of the residents. Please supply the number of vehicle/vehicle and vehicle/person accidents at this junction and traffic lights since the traffic lights were installed
