Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26 January 2021 asking for information about land and buildings owned by Transport for London.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require, however the data we hold on the land and buildings owned by TfL is not held in a format that matches with your request list. Whilst our property data in general matches Land Registry titles, this is not consistent throughout, and one asset can match many or many plus parts of other Land Registry titles, along with assets that are not registered.

When we provide data to external parties, this is normally in the format of CAD or GIS mapping data – whilst we could provide you with the coordinates for the centrepoint of each of the assets, this we feel would have limited value, as we hold large assets at various locations (i.e. The Freehold land between two stations), and a single coordinate would not give much in the way of reflecting the size or shape of that asset. We could provide the LR title number, but only where this land is registered and we have had the requirement to record this at a given location.

Also a single property, for example a station, is in most cases a single asset (LR Title), but this can cover operational, dwellings, commercial and other uses.

We have carried out a spatial query for TfL property that falls within the extents of TW and KT postcodes – the attached spreadsheet shows this information. As you will see there is a lot of TfL road data (where we own small/large parcels of land along the main roads) that doesn’t have an easily identifiable address – this could only really addressed by supplying GIS mapping data.

Given the difficulties outlined above, we are unable to provide the detailed information requested for all land and buildings in the requested postcode areas. If you are able to specify which properties shown on the attached spreadsheet are of interest to you, we may however be able to assist you further.
