We answered

Our ref: FOI-2172-2122/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 23 December 2021 asking for information about the 'See their side' road safety video campaign.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

  1. A breakdown of feedback received including how many positive, how many negative, how many neutral.

We received 75 pieces of feedback through our customer services teams from the public. 2 of those were deemed positive, 1 was neutral and 72 were negative.

Feedback from stakeholders has been varied. We have spoken with a number of cycling groups including Cycling UK, British Cycling and London Cycling Campaign, all of whom were critical about the execution of the campaign. We received positive feedback from two motorcycling organisations. All stakeholder organisations we have spoken with have been supportive of the ambition to tackle the perception that road danger is inevitable.

  1. Whether TfL will recover any money from the campaign due to the decision to suspend.

Once the decision to pause the campaign was made we switched our remaining paid media as soon as possible and used the Watch your Speed Campaign in its place. The £229,975.92 expenditure was moved to the other campaign or, in the case of our cinema spend, will be used at a later date without losing any media value.

If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
