The traffic signal timings were last reviewed in May 2012 to optimise road network performance prior to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This included the roundabout and Leytonstone High Street This review improved resilience of the roundabout operation by updating the fall back timings should any of the vehicle sensors fail. It also revised the timing strategy for the PM peak to reduce queues heading south via Leytonstone High Street by re-balancing the timings at the junction with Gainsborough Road.
The additional information requested for the phasing of the traffic signals with previous and current timings between 15.30 and 18.30 is in the table below:
Average green time durations (Mon-Fri)
Junction/Movement | Prior to May 2012 – 15:30-18:30 (seconds) | Current – 15:30-18:30 (seconds) |
13/000117 – Roundabout Entry | 11 | 12 |
13/000170 – Circulatory Movement | 29 | 29 |
13/000116 – Circulatory Movement | 22 | 22 |
Please note that the traffic signals operate as a coordinated traffic system which uses traffic sensors in the road to vary the green durations in response to queues and flow levels, when significant queues occur on Leytonstone High Road the timings change at the roundabout to hold back traffic so that it minimises blocking of the Green Man roundabout.
TfL traffic signal engineers will shortly be commencing a new signal timing review of the signals on Leytonstone High Road and Green Man Roundabout, expected to conclude Summer 2017.

=======
I write in respect of the traffic lights at the green man roundabout Wanstead London E11.
I would like details of the current programming and phasing of these lights, specifically the amount of time that each set of lights allocates between the exit of the north bound A12 onto this roundabout and the next 2 sets of traffic lights traveling in a clockwise direction around this roundabout.
I would like to know the last date that the programming or phasing was changed and the details of the phasing and programming that was amended.
For the avoidance of doubt, if the programming and phasing changes throughout the day, I would like you to give me the details for current and immediately prior programming and phasing which is in operation at 3.30pm and 6.30pm on weekdays.
