Hi, Will norman tweeted that cycle mode share had doubled. He was referring to a chart in Travel in London 14. It was based on Figure 3. Could you tell me the 2019 and 2020 trips per day that are used for the chart and this claim.?

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 21st December 2021 asking for information about cycling in London.
 
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. 
 
Specifically you asked:
 
Will Norman tweeted that cycle mode share had doubled. He was referring to a chart in Travel in London 14. It was based on Figure 3.  Could you tell me the 2019 and 2020 trips per day that are used for the chart and this claim?”
 
I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
 
Will Norman’s tweet referred to Figure 4.11 of Travel in London 14, not Figure 3. Figure 4.11 is shown on page 91 via the following link:

This data is taken from the London Travel Demand Survey (LTDS), which is a continuous household travel survey of the London area which has been running since 2005/06 with an annual sample size of around 8,000 households. Note that during the course of the Covid-19 pandemic and national lockdowns the sample size has been reduced due to the suspension of face-to face fieldwork. More information on this can be found on page 79 of the report. The breakdown of the data for cycling trips shown in Figure 4.11 is as follows - note that this relates to London residents only:
