Request ID: FOI-2151-1718
Date published: 30 November 2017
You asked
I would like to know how many TFL vehicles have been fined for traffic violations ( going through red lights, being stationary in yellow boxes)in the last 10 years
We answered
TfL Ref: 2151-1718
Thank you for your web request received by us on 4 November 2017 and your email of 18 November clarifying your request and asking for information about how many TFL buses or their drivers have been fined for going through red lights or for stopping in a chequered box where no stopping is allowed over the last ten years.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
Firstly please note that buses are not owned by TfL and are registered to the various bus operating companies who are responsible for all aspects of the vehicles. If a fine has been issued then it would be issued to the registered owner at their address of the vehicle and not to TfL. Additionally, London Borough Councils and / or the Police would manage the prosecution side relating to any offences.
However we have been able to locate the statistics we do hold showing PCNs issued to buses with the contravention description: Entering and stopping in a box junction when prohibited between 1 January 2016 and 31 October 2017.
