Date published: 23 October 2019
You asked
I am trying to research the percentage of accidents that are classed as 'fault' and 'non fault' as determined by an insurer, relating to licensed taxis (black cabs) and mini cabs.
Is there such data available and if so how would I go about obtaining it?
We answered
TfL Ref: 2112-1920
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 10 October 2019 asking for information about licensed taxi / mini cab accident statistics.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested as TfL does not insure taxi or private hire vehicles. You may want to contact to individual motor insurance companies or the Motor Insurance Bureau who manage data for the insurance industry (www.mib.org.uk).
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
