FOI request detail

Requesting for technical data of DLR

Request ID: FOI-2110-1718
Date published: 17 January 2018

You asked

I require only two types of data, i.e. DLR rolling stock and DLR route. For DLR rolling stock, I specify I need the following data of B07 Stock: - Total length in metre - Total tare mass and the tare mass of each vehicle in tonne - Total mass with maximum capacity in tonne - Top speed in metre per second - Maximum traction force in Newton - Maximum power in Watt - Maximum acceleration in metre per second squared - Maximum allowable in operation acceleration in metre per second squared - Maximum braking force in Newton - Maximum deceleration in metre per second squared - Maximum allowable in operation deceleration in metre per second squared - Running resistance in Davis equation For DLR route, I specify I require two routes: from Bank to Woolwich Arsenal, and from Stratford to Lewisham. Of each, I need the following data: - Gradient profile, i.e. distance and gradient data from each source - Position of each station from each source - Velocity profile, i.e. speed limit and speed reference from each source

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 1 November 2017 asking for information about the Docklands Light Railway (DLR).

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

I require only two types of data, i.e. DLR rolling stock and DLR route.

For DLR rolling stock, I specify I need the following data of B2007 Stock:

- Total length in metre = 28.8m coupler face to coupler face

- Total tare mass and the tare mass of each vehicle in tonne = tare mass per vehicle 38.2t

- Total mass with maximum capacity in tonne = maximum total weight per vehicle 57.3t

- Top speed in metre per second = 2.23 m/s (80 km/h)

- Maximum traction force in Newton = 4 x 1200 Nm (max)

- Maximum power in Watt = 4 x 130kW

- Maximum acceleration in metre per second squared = 1.4 m/s2 (max)

- Maximum allowable in operation acceleration in metre per second squared = 1.4 m/s2 (max)

- Maximum braking force in Newton = 206.3 kN (Emergency Brake) per vehicle

- Maximum deceleration in metre per second squared = 1.44 m/s2 (Emergency Brake from 80km/h) per vehicle

- Maximum allowable in operation deceleration in metre per second squared = 0.80 m/s2 (full ATO controlled Service Brake from 80 km/h) per vehicle

- Running resistance in Davis equation = Unknown

Please note that all values are with a new wheel diameter of 740mm.

For DLR route, I specify I require two routes: from Bank to Woolwich Arsenal, and from Stratford to Lewisham.

Of each, I need the following data:

- Gradient profile, i.e. distance and gradient data from each source

- Position of each station from each source

- Velocity profile, i.e. speed limit and speed reference from each source

The infrastructure data for the network is attached.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.
