Could we answer the following questions:
1. Was the recent road closure on the A20 southbound to deal with the resurfacing & drainage works?
2. If not, what has been done?
3. Please advise what is left to be carried out by the contractors?

Our Customer Services team has passed over your request of 30th September 2024 – detailed below - asking for information about recent street works on the A20.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“2 questions remain which I thought would be simple to answer;
1. Was the recent road closure on the A20 southbound to deal with the resurfacing & drainage works? If yes - all well & good & when can the speed restrictions be lifted? 2. If no please advise what is left & when it will be done? Lifting the restrictions will then follow on at some unknown date in the future.”
It is not entirely clear from the wording of your request exactly what closure you are referring to and where. However, my assumption is that this relates to the re-surfacing works to address a long-standing issue on the A20 Sidcup Bypass – which has historically faced problems because of drainage issues leading to standing water on the carriageway - which were completed over the August bank holiday weekend. The re-surfacing works are now complete, and new speed signage is due to be installed at the end of October, with the planned reversion to the original speed limits on 30th October 2024.
