Please supply the following Information:- I would like to know the number of collisions on the A40 and A406 where Average Speed Cameras have been installed for the following periods:- (1) The Year BEFORE Average Speed Cameras were installed (2) The Year AFTER Average Speed Cameras were installed

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 31 October 2017 asking for information about the number of collisions on the A40 and A406 where Average Speed Cameras have been installed.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

A40 average speed camera system went live in October 2015.

  • ?12 months before (01 October 2014 to 30 September 2015) – 136 personal injury collisions (1 fatal, 10 serious, 125 slight)

     

  • ?12 months after (01 November 2015 to 31 October 2016) – 105 personal injury collisions (1 fatal, 11 serious, 93 slight)

A406 average speed camera system went live in June 2016.  Unfortunately due to issues with quality and compatibility of data received from the new Metropolitan Police input system we currently only have data to 31 December 2016 so are unable to supply collisions numbers for 12 months after installation as we only have six months available; we have therefore supplied data for six months before and after. As follows:

  • ?6 months before (01 December 2015 to 31 May 2016) – 79 personal injury collisions (3 fatal, 6 serious, 70 slight)

     

  • ?6 months after (01 July 2016 to 31 December 2016) – 86 personal injury collisions (0 fatal, 4 serious, 82 slight)
