We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-2078-2122

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13th December 2021 asking for information about non-TfL bus routes in London.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we hold the information you require. Your questions are answered in turn below:

Question 1) Can you list the non-TfL bus routes (including names of bus operators and destinations) which cross and serve within the Greater London boundary?

Answer: Please see the attached document “lsp-bulletin” which lists all the London Service Permits for buses at the time of your request.

Question 2) Do these non-TfL bus services accept Oyster cards, Contactless payment bank cards, Travelcards, Bus Passes, discounted rate travel and concessionary tickets?

Answer: The only TfL Oyster tickets non-TfL operators would accept are Freedom Passes marked under the English National Concessionary Scheme (ENCS) scheme. See the following link for more information:

https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/free-and-discounted-travel/freedom-pass?intcmp=54725

Operators may accept contactless payment but they would not be part of the TfL Capping regime.

Question 3) Do these services accept TfL's 'one hour hopper fare'?

Answer: No.

Question 4) Are these services included in TfL bus information such as interactive bus map on TfL website?

Answer: Publicly available services with LSPs are included in our Journey Planner, but not route by route listings on the rest of the website. This excludes any “closed list” services for schools and universities which are restricted to users from the relevant institutions.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
