I think it would be worthwhile to ascertain the number of private hire drivers that were working within the congestion charge boundary during the same period. This will give us all a clearer picture of accurate numbers in real time and is pertinent as again the question of the trade paying the congestion charge has resurfaced.

Thank you for your email received by us on 20 January 2017 asking for a breakdown of private hire drivers working in the Congestion Charging Zone throughout December 2016.

 

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.

 

The number of unique private hire vehicles detected within the Congestion Charging Zone during operational hours in December 2016 was 54,187.
