Thank you for your request which we received on 14 September 2023.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm we hold some of the information you have requested. You specifically asked:

I have upon rare occasions in the last two years come across TfL staff working on the underground who appear to be wearing some form of security uniform. This is distinct from the British Transport Police Officers and the Specials and  support officers one sees around. I do not refer to any Revenue Control staff. Do you have a new security grade patrolling stations in groups or couples and if so what are their grade hierarchy structures and rates of pay please as of Now, September 2023.

The only officers patrolling the stations are our Operations Officers. They operate across our network day and night, using new technology and intelligence to identify anyone travelling without the correct ticket or payment for the journey they are making. They are easily recognisable as TfL staff and all wear the same uniform. We occasionally carry out joint operations with our policing partners which may be what you have noticed, but TfL officers have no individual teams with different responsibilities or uniforms.

The pay and structure of our enforcement staff, as of 1 Apr 2023, can be found below;
