Request ID: FOI-2060-2122 Date published: 29 December 2021
You asked
Can you confirm the list of 100 bus routes allegedly at risk from cuts, as a FOI request.
We need this to assess its impact on services in our area in South Herts adjacent, and whether HCC or local operators would take some of these on like the 84 if so?
We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-2060-2122 Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 9 December 2021, asking about bus route withdrawals. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested.Around 100 bus routes were set out as part of TfL’s current budget review activity. In light of the ongoing uncertainty around TfL’s funding it is appropriate that we consider the scenario without central government funding. You can see the full context in the Finance Committee meeting papers on our website at https://board.tfl.gov.uk/documents/s16939/fc-20211124-item11a-Impacts-of-Reduced-Funding.pdf. The analysis which identified the need to withdraw 100 routes (and make frequency reductions on others) was a high level financial analysis, and would only apply in the circumstances set out in this paper. It was not the complete analysis which would be needed to proceed with a specific proposal on any particular route. No decisions have yet been made about specific routes which may be affected if TfL does not receive Government support and any proposals for route withdrawals will be subject to public and stakeholder consultation. Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal. Yours sincerely Eva Hextall FOI Case Management Team General Counsel Transport for London
