Traffic light fault - Station Rd, Harrow
Request ID: FOI-2054-1920
Date published: 04 November 2019
You asked
Location: 259A Station Rd, Harrow HA1 2TB, UK
The traffic light fault I reported to you on 2 September is still occurring. This is not only an inconvenience but a safety hazard, as it obliges cyclists to do things other than wait for a green traffic light.
Please can you:
1. Provide me with an update on what is being done to resolve the fault?
2. Provide me with information on all actions taken since I reported this on 2 September. I requested this in my email of 13 September and I would expect you to consider this as a Freedom of Information request under the FoIA. I have not received a satisfactory response to my question yet

Traffic Signals at SHEEPCOTE ROAD
A fault with our traffic signal detection system was reported on 6 September 2019 and attended by our contractor on 7 September. The attending engineer found the detector out of alignment and this fault was subsequently rectified. A further fault was reported on 16 September and was attended by our engineer but no issues were found with the detector on this occasion. In response to this FOI request a senior engineer subsequently attended site on 14 October and found that the detector was intermittently not seeing cyclists and an instruction for the detector to be replaced has now been raised. As an interim measure, the controller has now been set to permanently demand Station Road until the detector has been replaced. Permanent demand is where the traffic signal is set to always think there is a vehicle in sight on a specific exit.
If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
