FOI request detail

Bus Station Controller

Request ID: FOI-2028-2122
Date published: 23 December 2021

You asked

Can you please tell me the Bus Stations currently manned by T.F.L Bus Station Controllers? Are Bus Station Controllers with T.F.L based at one particular Bus Station or do they work at multiple? Are the Bus Stations grouped together (EG: Geographically) so Bus Station Controllers can work at multiple designated Stations? If so, what are the groups the divided Bus Stations that a Bus Station Controller can work at? Do Bus Station Controllers work one individual shift pattern? For example all early duty days or all late duty days? Or is it a combination of both? Can a Bus Station Controller do overtime as a Night Bus Station Controller?

Are Bus Station Controllers with T.F.L based at one particular Bus Station or do they work at multiple?

They are allocated to that location including the surrounding area but may provide cover at other locations for operational resilience and if significant disruption occurs elsewhere on the network and requires intervention.

Are the Bus Stations grouped together (EG: Geographically) so Bus Station Controllers can work at multiple designated Stations?

Yes, as shown in the tables above.

If so, what are the groups the divided Bus Stations that a Bus Station Controller can work at?

Please see the table above.

Do Bus Station Controllers work one individual shift pattern? For example all early duty days or all late duty days?  Or is it a combination of both?

Normally, staff work duties including early and late shifts to ensure our operational cover provides the supervision required at bus stations and the surrounding area. They tend to work five days a week including weekend working.
Can a Bus Station Controller do overtime as a Night Bus Station Controller?

Where staff are multi-skilled, they can form part of a pool that provides wider cover so that we have greater operational resilience, and the hours they work will include rest periods if the blocs of hours they work are flexible.
