F/on from FOI-1699 As I couldn't find any data about fatal accidents involving pedicabs, I think it means there was no fatality at all involving rickshaws in the last 18 years, since these vehicles started to operate in London. I would like to ask you, what do you think, is it possible the get further details about that collisions where pedal cycles/other vehicles (possibly rickshaws) were involved? As you wrote, these collisions are recorded by the police as pedal cycles or other vehicles, so possibly not even all of those 8 injuries were connected to pedicabs. As this is a really low number of accidents, I would like to have a look at the cases one by one, if its possible. What do you think, can I get further information from the police?

Thank you for your email received on 13 January 2017 asking for further information about the eight collisions where pedal cycles/other vehicles (possibly rickshaws) were involved.

 

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

 

The table previously provided shows any seriously injured casualties resulting from collisions involving a rickshaw/pedicab. It is therefore a count of casualties, not collisions. These eight serious casualties resulted from six collisions.

 

Please find attached the details which we hold regarding these collisions. The description of how the accident occurred and the contributory factors are the reporting officer's opinion at the time of reporting and may not be the result of extensive investigation. Subjective so we should provide restricted listings.
