Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 12 November 2022, asking for information about TfL’s telephone system.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You specifically asked:
 
  1. What telephone system does the organisation use?
Mitel and Avaya.
 
  1. How many users use the telephone system?
22,273 (based on the latest user report).
 
  1. Is the telephone system cloud based?
No, it is solely hosted within TfL premises
 
  1. When will the organisation next review their telephony contracts?
A strategic review of the fixed telephony contract is underway with options for tendering finalised by end of 2022/early 2023.
 
  1. Who is the main network provider the organisation uses for its mobile phones?
Telefonica O2.
 
  1. How many employees have a mobile phone supplied by the organisation?
Approximately 9,000.
 
  1. What is the date that the organisation will next review its main mobile phone contract?
The contract with Telefonica O2 expires 31 May 2023. A procurement is underway to replace this contract, see Contract Notice : https://www.find-tender.service.gov.uk/Notice/027646-2022?
 
  1. What Video Conferencing Solutions does the organisation use?
Microsoft Teams.
 
  1. Does the organisation run webinars or online events?
Yes. For instance TfL Corporate Archives webinars or the London Transport Museum virtual webinars.
 
  1. Does the organisation provide "click To chat" functionality on its website?
Our Road User Charging website:  has a webchat.
