We answered
Our Ref: FOI-1977-1718
Thank you for your request received on 19 October 2017 asking for information about collisions between heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and cyclists.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and TfL’s information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.
The information you asked for is available in the .csv files available on our website under ‘Data Extracts’ using the following link:
https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/road-safety
By filtering the casualty mode to pedal cyclist and the vehicle table to HGVs it is possible to link the records together by using the unique collision reference number. The collision reference number will also give attendant details such as location and date if required. Please note that collisions can involve multiple vehicles, it may be that a collision can involve a HGV and pedal cyclist injury but the HGV wasn’t in direct conflict with the cyclist. You may find the Collision Data Guide useful:
http://content.tfl.gov.uk/collision-data-guide.pdf
The data is available from 2005 to 2016 which is the latest available information we hold.
In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, TfL is not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
