Request ID: FOI-1940-2425 Date published: 11 October 2024
You asked
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like a list of the investment properties owned by Transport for London, including:
• the type of property (e.g. residential, office, retail, etc.)
• the address
• rental income from the property in each of the last three financial years
If it is not possible to provide rental income, please provide the other data requested.
I would also like a list of the investment properties bought and sold by TfL in each of the past three financial years and the value of each transaction. This list should also include the type of property and address.
For all the above, if it is not possible to provide three years of data within the restrictions of the FOI Act, please provide as many years of data as possible.

Our ref: FOI-1940-2425/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16 September 2024 asking for information about our investment properties.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
Please see the attached spreadsheet showing our investment properties. We are not obliged to provide you with the rental income for these properties as these are subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information under section 43(2). In this instance the section 43(2) exemption has been applied as disclosure would, or would be likely to prejudice our commercial interests. Disclosure of this information could hinder TfL’s ability to negotiate the income in the future.
The use of this exemption is subject to an assessment of the public interest in relation to the disclosure of the information concerned. We recognise the need for openness and transparency by public authorities, particularly where public money is concerned, but in this instance the public interest in ensuring that we are able to obtain the best revenue outweighs the general public interest in increasing transparency of our processes.
