TfL has been working with the Department for Transport (DfT) to move towards compliance on the Central and Bakerloo lines. This has been on the principle of ‘targeted compliance’ which aims to deliver compliance except where it is not technically feasible or prohibitively expensive for the perceived benefits delivered. In these areas derogation requests are submitted and consulted publically before being considered by the DfT. The links set out the areas for which derogations are being requested and the rationale for these which are different for both fleets. Dates associated to a derogation request provided in these links hold a degree of conservatism, which TfL will strive to beat. For example at present TfL anticipate making the Central line RVAR compliant through CLIP – Central Line (trains) Improvement Programme – by the end of 2023.
For locations which will have compliant level access, the platforms listed in the derogations are in addition to those which currently have either manual boarding ramps or infrastructure which provides level access. A list of currently accessible platforms and their method of providing this is available in the Step Free Tube Guide (http://content.tfl.gov.uk/step-free-tube-guide-map.pdf)
