Our ref: FOI-1930-2223/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 9 November 2022 asking for information about the number of applicants in the queue for a PHV Driver licence.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.
Q.1 How many PHV driver applications are awaiting initial assessment?
As of the week ending 6 November, there were 657 new applications awaiting assessment with a waiting time of 8 working days for PHV. There are 803 renewal applications with a waiting time of 5 working days.
Q.2 How many PHV driver applications are awaiting final assessment/full review (after initial assessment, provided all documents and passed topographical) for need to be licence?
As of 11 November, 481 private hire driver licence applications are awaiting a final decision having provided a complete application and having met the topographical assessment and other licensing criteria.
Q.3 How many PHV driver applications are ahead of me (DAPP00714185) in queue for final assessment/application final review?
Given the volume of applications we receive, the fact that each one differs depending on the individual circumstances of the applicant, that aspects of the licensing process are outside of TfL’s control and that each application is considered on a case-by-case basis, there is no specific timeframe for processing an application. We also do not record information in a way which would enable us to answer this question.
