TfL Ref: FOI-1908-2425
Thank you for your request which we received on 11 September 2024, asking for information on bonuses paid to people leaders.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
Information on bonuses paid to senior TfL staff is published in the Annual Report and Statement of Accounts here: - https://board.tfl.gov.uk/documents/s22831/Appendix%201%20Annual%20Report%20and%20Accounts%202024%20Draft.pdf. Please refer to pages 166 – 170.
Unfortunately, to provide the rest of the information you have requested would exceed the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450 set by FOI (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.
Under section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with a request if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other information would exceed the appropriate limit. This is calculated at £25 per hour for every hour spent on the activities described.
To provide the level of breakdown you asked for, we would have to identify what bonuses were paid to a ‘people leader’ and then collate the protected characteristic. We do not have any way of directly reporting on this which would mean that collating this information would require a manual review of all of the individuals across multiple paybands to determine whether they have people leader responsibilities and then collate the information accordingly. Such a process would be a considerable task and exceed the cost limit.
To help bring the cost of responding to your requests within the £450 limit, you may wish to consider refining your requests to concentrate on matters which are important to you. For example, if you were interested in specific individuals we would be more likely to be able to answer your request without exceeding the appropriate limit.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
